Skycable Davao Digibox

After a month of receiving their circular, Skycable Davao City finally sent someone over to install the Digibox. First impression? Well, I had no choice because without the digibox I couldn’t watch channels 41 and above. But after a couple of hours, I realized that most of the channels added by the digibox were the channels that I loved back in Manila. Skycable Davao City now has the Asian Food Channel (I love!) and both History and Bio channel with the basic subscription. For me, that’s more than enough because those three channels are the ones that got me into Skycable in the first place.
They do have some premium channels like HBO Signature, HBO Family and a bunch more, but I’m happy with the current channel line up and paying more would be just a waste for me since I can’t watch all those channels at the same time. A beef I have with the digibox is that the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) has nothing in it yet, maybe in the coming months once the kinks are worked out (Hopefully)
Of course, the digibox did clear up a lot of channels, channels before that were blurry from a bad cable connection or faulty tuning. So the verdict? for me, Skycable Davao City’s digibox is a necessary evil, since the installation and the box is free then why not go for it? But then, there’s a 105 increase in the monthly bill, I guess it’s worth it once the EPG is up and running and the additional channels and the clarity.
One thing bothers me though, I wonder how they’re going to offer HD channels without an HDMI output on the box itself.

Today, January 03, 2012, the telephones of Skycable Davao can’t be reached. Just wondering why Skycable Inc., is not addressing this problem.

Hi Christian, when will the monthly charge reflect? Will it be on your August, 2010 bill, i.e. on the next bill you will receive?
There was a 4-hour downtime on cable (Skycable), phone (Bayan), and internet (Bayan) connections in our area yesterday and I was wondering why. Now I know. I usually wake up at 2pm. When I turned on the TV, wala nang channels 41-57. Waaaaah! Most of the time sa Discovery, CNN, ANC, at CNA ako nakatutok.
The Digibox isn’t really FREE. If it was, why are we supposed to pay a monthly fee of 105 pesos more? And another 210 pesos monthly for a second TV? Wow!
By the time they launch the optional SkyCable HD here, it’s at least 500 pesos more in our monthly bills. That’s on top of a 5000-peso HD box one-time installation fee or less 2000-3000 if you want your existing Digibox replaced (Manila rates). Pretty costly for an HDMI out and an Optical out, huh?
Sadly, no choice now on the Digibox. SkyHigh Cable it is! The future is really clearer with Skycable. They do intend to give us rates with limitless possibilities.
I have no idea when the change will reflect, my July bill still shows the same price as before.
I’m not really defending Skycable in any way here, I mean, I subscribed to them in Manila for almost 2 years at almost 1,000 pesos per month since I wanted the channels that they offered.
I know some people who ditched Sky and went with Cignal instead because they only wanted to watch certain channels which Cignal offered with their basic rates.
You know what they say
If you don’t want it, don’t buy it.
Cignal TV customer care sucks… So if you can see clear TV stations with your aerial antenna, stay to that and get far away from the worst service ever!
(I am a subscriber, that’s why I know this, kaya nag sisi ako sa Cignal…)

I am really frustrated why I cannot watch Discovery Channel. they could’ve just at least spare my most fave channel. hahaha. kidding aside, i think they are a little bit unfair. like for instance in our case, we have four televisions in our household and only one was spared with the channel problem. My brother and I cannot watch it in our room anymore. Quite frustrating.
BTW, EPG is already working from day one in our digibox, any update with yours?
Yep yep, the EPG finally worked, I love the feeling of knowing what’s next sa HBO, Star, etc etc, rather than waiting for the credits to be over
uhm… ano pong ibang added channels sa digibox? hehehe we don’t have digi box kasi…
and i’m also looking for the etc channel can’t seem to find it. hehehe

anyway around the digibox to get ETC? its free in metro manila and supposed to be a UHF which is also free.

has anyone figured out how to use splitters or(??) in order to hook up a couple more T.V.’s? Sky is ripping us off by forcing the digibox on us to start with, then adding insult to injury by configuring the box so it will only feed one T.V. Previously it was cable service per household as it should be. Now they are gona rip us off with P210 more per T.V. Talk about theft and extortion!!
Really? Ever since Sellargon/Cableworld days, it always was one line per tv then additional payment per extra tv. It was always the technician who profited from putting in extra lines.
You can still split the signal but that’s BEFORE you hook it up to the box, yung mga split signal na sets will not get the extra channels.

digibox is good at start… but so much of problem encounter after a month it was installed… message saying “no right access scrambled program.. contact skycable”. even the basic channel is having like this? pls explain…
That’s probably from the digibox running out of memory or a software glitch. Try unplugging it for about 30 seconds then plugging it in again, that usually works for me.

Depende sa plan I think, if you’re at the lowest plan, 280 or 290, it’s 20 pesos per additional channel, but if you’re paying the 700+ plan then kasama na.
I don’t know about their promos for this month, they usually have subscription centers sa malls, you can ask there.

This is the second day na walang cable sa aming tv if we use the digibox. nakalagay parati (NO RIGHT TO ACCESS SCRAMBLED PROGRAM. PLEASE CONTACT SKYCABLE). In-off, tinanggal ko na saksakan. wala pa rin. tinawagan namin hinahanap yung karton, pero nawala kasi. pero hiningi yung account number at pangalan ng subscriber. Ang ginawa ko, tinanggal ko sa digibox yung linya ng cable at nilagay ko sa TV agad. ang problema, walang channels 41 up. wala na rin ETC!
Simply lang,klangan lang po iactivate ang digibox nyo,kung ngkulang po ang channels just Go to MENU, Installation,and Auto Scan.Ganun lang po un ksimply.
bakit bigla lang namamatay ang digibox? ang hirap pa ikontak ng ofis nyo.sabi magpapadala ng tao. inabotna ng 3 days wala pa ring pumupunta.nakakabwisit!

question our monthly bill is 780 php and we have 1 digibox if we subscribe for a second one would the bill increase again please reply asap
Hi Xtian…As far as I know they will replace your Digital Box with an HD box if you will subscribe sa HD channels…just dont know if there is extra cost or what not.

Meron na ba sa inyo na nahack un Digibox, meaning nka pag splitter nba kau gamit un Digibox..? Help nman po kng mron na.. and paano un procedure..
